A partnership in Community Development

Northern Stevedoring Services (NSS) is giving back to the community with what it does best.

That is with its operational skills and processes.

NSS is backing the Clontarf Foundation which has goals to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.

This with the end to equip them to participate more meaningfully in society.

Business Support Manager Jade Collins is helping organise NSS’ contribution and said the Clontarf Foundation caught their imagination.

“At NSS, we believe in community support and giving something back,” Ms Collins said. “We really want to contribute to the local area and the areas where we live and work.

“The Clontarf Foundation is dedicated to empowering young men and guiding them toward successful careers after they leave school.

“We’ve been involved in the great work they do in preparing these young men for the future.

“We hope to be able to provide apprenticeships and career opportunities in logistics, stevedoring and maintenance and help support this program.”

The commitment comes out of the business’ Supporting Communities Program which is governed by a selection panel to ensure an effective benefit for worthwhile projects.

“The Clontarf Foundation is dedicated to empowering young men and guiding them toward successful careers after they leave school,” Ms Collins said.
